With the arrival of new manager Thiago Motta, the future of Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie remains in serious doubt.
Although the American international bounced back well this past season, it remains to be seen if he fits into the plans of the Bianconeri’s new technician.
In a recent development reported by Kristian Dyer of USA Today, MLS side FC Cincinnati have initiated negotiations to potentially acquire the midfielder. In fact, they’re willing to pay nearly €14 million for his transfer.
Cincinnati’s bid underscores their ambition to strengthen their roster significantly, securing McKennie’s services would require substantial financial commitment, potentially making him one of the highest-paid players in the league.
McKennie, 25, currently earns around €2.5 million net annually, a figure that places him just outside the top 10 earners in MLS. Negotiations are expected to hinge on whether FC Cincinnati can meet McKennie’s salary expectations, particularly given his international experience and success in Europe.
