Chiesa’s Decision Dilemma: Holding Roma and Juventus in Suspense

IF24 Desk

Federico Chiesa, the Italian footballer, is currently in the spotlight as Roma and Juventus negotiate a deal valued at €20 million plus bonuses for his transfer. However, despite the clubs being ready to finalize the agreement, Chiesa is hesitant about his next move.

Chiesa’s contract with his current team is set to expire in June 2025, and with the new coach Thiago Motta not including him in the tactical plans, a renewal seems unlikely. Juventus is eager to sell him quickly to secure funds for the acquisition of Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, which is why they have reduced their asking price to €25 million including add-ons for the transfer to Roma.

Although Roma presents a potential opportunity for Chiesa, he is hesitant as he prefers a club that competes in the Champions League. While some experts suggest he may consider moving abroad, others, like Sportitalia chief Alfredo Pedullà, believe that Chiesa may still consider staying in Italy if the right opportunity arises.

Chiesa is taking his time to make a decision, as he does not want to rush into anything. With the asking price now established, there is a possibility that other clubs such as Bayern Munich, Napoli, Milan, or even Premier League teams may enter the bidding war for his services.
