Juventus Sets Sights on Koopmeiners Transfer: Club Ready to Make Move

IF24 Desk

Juventus is now focusing their attention on securing Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta, a player also being pursued by Liverpool. The Italian club may even include a new player in the deal.

Koopmeiners has been eyeing a move to Turin for some time now, allowing Juventus to prioritize other transfers first, such as Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa and Khephren Thuram from OGC Nice, as they revamp their midfield for new coach Thiago Motta.

According to transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà from Sportitalia, it is now time for Juventus’ director Cristiano Giuntoli to finalize the deal for Koopmeiners, who has expressed his desire to join the club.

The asking price for the Dutch international is €50m plus bonuses, a reasonable sum considering his impressive performance of 15 goals and seven assists in 51 games last season, which helped Atalanta win the Europa League and reach the Coppa Italia Final. Unfortunately, an injury prevented him from participating in EURO 2024.

Despite Liverpool’s interest in the 26-year-old, Koopmeiners remains steadfast in his desire to join Juventus, even with the appointment of a new Dutch coach. While there were talks of including Dean Huijsen in the deal to lower the cost, reports now indicate that Juventus may offer defender Daniele Rugani instead.

Rugani, a versatile centre-back who is approaching 30 and recently extended his contract until 2026, has also attracted attention from Genoa, Ajax, and Al-Shabab in the Saudi Pro League.
