John Elkann made a significant visit to the Juventus training ground today to meet with new coach Thiago Motta and director Cristiano Giuntoli, signaling a new era beyond the reign of Andrea Agnelli.
The Agnelli family has held control of the club for over a century, with Andrea serving as President from May 2010 until November 2022. His resignation, along with the entire Board of Directors, came in the wake of the plusvalenze scandal, resulting in Juventus being penalized with point deductions, hefty fines, and exclusion from UEFA competition for the 2023-24 season.
Although not officially holding the title of President, John Elkann, who is Andrea Agnelli’s cousin, is currently leading the family company Exor.
The dismissal of Max Allegri and the withdrawal from the European Super League commitment mark the end of the Agnelli era at Juventus. Elkann’s visit to the Continassa camp today further solidified this new chapter. Accompanied by Juventus President Gianluca Ferrero and CEO Maurizio Scanavino, Elkann had his first face-to-face meeting with new coach Thiago Motta.
A group of fans also gathered at the training ground, echoing a desire for change from the previous era. One fan expressed their support by saying, “We want to let the whole team and club know that we are with them, we will fight with them and follow them everywhere. We only want three things from them: sweat, caring about the jersey and taking us to victory.”
