Juventus is intensifying their efforts to sign OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo, with reports indicating that they have already reached an agreement on personal terms. Initially targeting Riccardo Calafiori this summer, Juventus’ plans were thwarted as Bologna opted to sell him to Arsenal for over €52m. Consequently, the Italian giants turned their attention to 24-year-old Todibo, who is under contract with Nice until June 2027.
Having previously conducted business with Nice for Khephren Thuram, Juventus and the French club have a positive relationship, which bodes well for negotiations regarding Todibo’s potential transfer. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Todibo has already agreed to personal terms with Juventus, which include an annual salary of €2m plus performance-based bonuses.
Despite interest from West Ham United, Manchester United’s pursuit of Todibo was halted due to a conflict of interest as both clubs are owned by INEOS, who also oversee Nice. The French international has previously played for Toulouse, Barcelona, Schalke 04, and Benfica before joining Nice in 2021 for €8.5m. With a reported asking price of around €40m, Juventus may need to offload some young players to generate the necessary funds, with Nonge Boende and Tarik Muharemovic being potential options for sale.
