Lazio has reportedly submitted an offer for Gaetano Castrovilli, who is now a free agent following his departure from Fiorentina.

The 27-year-old, a product of Bari’s youth system, joined Fiorentina in 2017. He made a name for himself during the 2019/20 season, establishing himself as one of Serie A’s standout performers. However, his progress was hampered by recurring injuries, limiting his playing time in Florence.

As a result, Fiorentina opted to release the Italian midfielder at the end of the last season, paving the way for a fresh start at a new club. According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Lazio holds a strong interest in Castrovilli and has tabled a significant offer for his services.

Castrovilli has yet to accept the proposal, with negotiations ongoing between the two parties. However, Pedullà has cautioned that the player is attracting interest from other clubs, potentially leading to a bidding war. Known for his versatility, Castrovilli can operate as a box-to-box midfielder or in a more attacking role just behind the striker.

Having earned four caps for the Italian national team, Castrovilli scored a goal during his international appearances. He was part of Roberto Mancini’s squad that clinched the Euro 2020 title, although his contributions were limited to a brief cameo in the tournament.
