Inter and Juventus are in a fierce battle to acquire Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson, with a potential deal mirroring the one that brought Sandro Tonali to Milan. The 27-year-old Icelandic striker is set to depart from Rossoblu after an impressive season, scoring 14 goals and providing four assists in 35 appearances. His price tag is estimated to be around €30m, a figure previously mentioned to Fiorentina in January.
Aside from his football career, Gudmundsson is currently embroiled in a serious legal matter in Iceland, where he faces allegations of sexual assault from a woman he met at a nightclub in Reykjavik. The case has been reopened following an appeal from the victim, and charges are expected to be filed.
Both Inter and Juventus are actively exploring ways to secure Gudmundsson’s signature this summer, with reports from Sky Sports Italia suggesting that they are considering a payment structure similar to Tonali’s transfer from Brescia to Milan. Milan paid €10m for the loan with a €15m buy option attached, a strategy that could be adopted by the Nerazzurri and Bianconeri to manage the costs involved in the potential deal.
