Manchester United has informed Fiorentina that they will not be exercising the €20m buy option clause for Sofyan Amrabat. The Moroccan midfielder, who joined Manchester United on loan from Fiorentina last summer, made 30 appearances in all competitions.
Despite initially struggling in the Premier League, Amrabat showed improvement in the second half of the season, even starting in the FA Cup final against Manchester City. According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United has communicated to Fiorentina that they do not plan to trigger the purchase option for Amrabat. However, manager Erik ten Hag is a fan of the player, and the Red Devils are open to discussing a permanent transfer at a lower fee.
While Amrabat has attracted interest from other clubs, he expressed his desire to stay at Old Trafford following their FA Cup victory at Wembley. In an interview with Ziggo Sports after the final, Amrabat stated, “Do I already know what I’m going to do next year? No. We are going to talk. Staying is certainly an option. Manchester United are the biggest club in the world, so who wouldn’t want to play football here? But all parties have to be happy with each other, so we will sit down now and see what happens.”
