Juventus’ Transfer Coup Turns Sour as Tiago Djalo Fails to Impress

IF24 Desk

Tiago Djalo is causing headaches for Juventus shortly after they outmaneuvered Inter Milan to secure his signing. According to the Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Juventus made a significant move by acquiring Djalo from Lille in January, despite Inter’s interest in him for several months.

Inter had eyed Djalo as a potential free transfer target for the upcoming summer, as his contract with Lille was set to expire in June. However, Lille was determined to avoid losing him for free and made it clear that they wanted to sell him. Juventus seized the opportunity and reached an agreement with both the player and Lille to sign Djalo at a discounted fee.

Despite the initial excitement surrounding Djalo’s arrival at Juventus, his impact on the team has been minimal. Under Max Allegri, Djalo only played sixteen minutes last season, and Juventus saw a decline in their league performance while Inter surged ahead. The recent friendly match against Nuremberg showcased Djalo’s underwhelming performance, leading to speculation that Juventus may consider offloading him.

The concern for Juventus is that while they successfully secured Djalo’s signing ahead of Inter, the on-field results may not match the excitement of the transfer coup. The arrival of Thiago Motta as Allegri’s replacement could potentially bring changes for Djalo at Juventus, but as of now, there is little evidence of improvement.
