Juventus set to offload Chiesa in summer transfer window amid interest from top clubs

Juventus manager Thiago Motta has confirmed that the club is actively seeking a summer departure for Italy winger Federico Chiesa. The talented Euro 2020 star was notably absent from Juventus’ squad in their recent pre-season friendly against Brest, which ended in a 2-2 draw with goals from Dusan Vlahovic and Gleison Bremer.

Chiesa seems to be a casualty of Juventus’ restructuring under new manager Motta, who took over from Massimiliano Allegri after the team finished third in Serie A. Motta revealed that Chiesa was left out of the squad with the intention of finding potential buyers, stating, “Chiesa is out for transfer reasons, the same as the others who were left behind.”

In addition to Chiesa, other players such as Weston McKennie, Wojciech Szczesny, Arkadiusz Milik, Arthur Melo, Mattia De Sciglio, Daniele Rugani, Filip Kostic, and Hans Nicolussi-Caviglia were also omitted from the squad and are believed to be available for transfer during the current window.

Despite Juventus’ efforts to negotiate a new contract with Chiesa last year, no agreement was reached. This situation means that Chiesa could potentially leave as a free agent next year if a suitable offer does not materialize soon. The 26-year-old has attracted interest from various Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Italian teams like Roma and Napoli.

Chiesa had an impressive showing at Euro 2020, playing a key role in Italy’s triumph at Wembley. However, his progress was hindered by a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury shortly after the tournament. Despite this setback, Chiesa had his most prolific goal-scoring season in Serie A during the 2023/24 campaign, scoring nine goals in 33 appearances.
