Besiktas vice-President Hüseyin Yücel has confirmed that his team recently showed interest in signing Juventus and Italy forward Federico Chiesa. However, the club decided to move on after learning about Chiesa’s ‘illogical’ salary request.
Chiesa is expected to leave Juventus before the summer transfer window closes, as he is not part of coach Thiago Motta’s plans for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Yücel mentioned that there are seven clubs interested in acquiring Chiesa from Juventus, but no formal offers have been made yet. He also revealed that Besiktas had considered bringing the 26-year-old to Turkey for about 10 days before deciding to pursue other targets.
According to Yücel, Chiesa is seeking a salary of approximately €9 million per season. He stated, “It’s true, we were talking about Chiesa for about 10 days. I would like to point out that the player has a salary expectation of around €9 million, on top of Juve’s request to settle for around €15 million. Currently, seven clubs are on his trail, but the requests are illogical and it is not possible for us to satisfy them. For that reason, the player is no longer on Besiktas’s agenda. The club’s interests are more important than the names of the players.”
Besiktas recently signed another Italian player, Ciro Immobile, from Lazio on a permanent deal earlier this summer.
