Manchester United face hurdles in potential Jadon Sancho transfer to Juventus

Juventus sets out demanding conditions for Jadon Sancho transfer

Following Jadon Sancho’s exclusion from yet another matchday squad by Erik ten Hag against Brighton and Hove Albion, the pressing question arises: how eager is Manchester United to part ways with the English star?

Despite indications of a repaired player-manager relationship during pre-season, where Sancho featured prominently in Ten Hag’s lineups and performed well as a false 9, recent events suggest otherwise. With Sancho being left out of the squad once again and Ten Hag dropping hints of discord at a press conference, an exit seems inevitable.

Manchester United is adamant about not opting for another loan deal for Sancho. The club requires funds to comply with PSR limits and aims to avoid a situation next summer where they have limited time to recoup money for the player, whose contract runs until June 2026 with an extension option.

Among the clubs expressing interest in Sancho this summer, including Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus, the latter has emerged as the most probable destination. However, a report from Gazzetta dello Sport sheds light on the unattractive and conditional nature of Juventus’ interest in the 24-year-old.

According to the outlet, ongoing discussions for Sancho involve the potential departure of Federico Chiesa, which could free up financial resources for Sancho’s transfer. However, Juventus proposes a loan deal with the option to buy and expects Manchester United to contribute to Sancho’s hefty salary of 8 million net.

This proposal presents several challenges, making it unlikely to materialize. Barcelona, reportedly hesitant about Chiesa’s fitness and form, may not be in a position to make a substantial financial commitment. Even if Chiesa moves to Juventus, there may not be room for Sancho in the squad.

Furthermore, Barcelona is only willing to consider a loan deal for Sancho, contrary to Manchester United’s preference, and expects the English club to share the player’s salary burden. These conditions mirror Borussia Dortmund’s earlier rejected offer, indicating a potential roadblock in negotiations.

Ineos, the club’s owner, has emphasized the need for a favorable financial outcome in any deal. Whether this stance will change following the recent tension between Sancho and Ten Hag remains uncertain, as Juventus’ offer, if presented, may fall short of expectations.
