Sitting second-bottom and eight points from safety in the Serie A table, Sampdoria haven’t had much to smile about so far this season.
It got even worse for the Ligurian side today after it was revealed veteran striker and team captain Fabio Quagliarella suffered a torn ACL in his left knee.
The striker was injured during the team’s training session yesterday in Turkey and underwent an MRI this morning to learn the extent of any potential damage.
Unfortunately, scans confirmed ligament damage in the veteran’s left knee, essentially ruling him out for the remainder of the season.
Quagliarella has already left the team’s retreat and flown back to Italy for follow-up tests with Samp’s orthopedic consultant.
