Adrien Rabiot’s Excessive Wage Demands Deter Top Clubs

IF24 Desk

Adrien Rabiot remains without a team, and recent reports shed light on why he was unable to reach an agreement with Juventus, Milan, or clubs in Turkey.

The 29-year-old midfielder has been a free agent since the end of his contract with Juventus on June 30. While he had previously extended his stay in Turin, this time negotiations broke down.

It seems that Rabiot’s wage demands were the main sticking point. Juventus offered him a two-year contract with the same salary of €7.5 million per season net, but he declined. He had hoped for a €10 million deal with Manchester United in 2023, but that fell through due to his high salary and commission requests.

Milan also made an offer to Rabiot this summer, but they grew impatient waiting for his response. Despite being a free agent, interest from Turkish clubs has diminished. Reports suggest that Rabiot was asking for a total package of €40 million over three years, including wages and commissions for his mother Veronique, who serves as his agent.

At this point, the Saudi Pro League may be the only place where Rabiot could potentially secure the figures he desires. However, this move could potentially hinder his career with the French national team.
