Left back Carlos Augusto has been one of the standouts this season for newly promoted Monza.
The Brazilian is the team’s leading goalscorer with 3 goals and 1 assist in 15 league appearances which has led to transfer interest from bigger clubs both in Italy and abroad.
His agent, Rafael Brandino, confirmed he’s been engaged in talks the club regarding a contract extension. The defender’s current deal expires in June 2024 but his agent warned the Biancorossi will have to improve their offer.
“Galliani and I spoke in October about a new deal, he made the offer to me directly and asked that I work with an Italian agent he’s close with,” he told Tuttomercatoweb.
“Monza want to renew his contract for two years but the improved wages wouldn’t take effect until 2024—which we can’t accept.”
Finally, “I spoke with Galliani again yesterday and we’re waiting until the new year to find an agreement. But let me be clear: we’d be happy to sign a contract renewal and remain with Monza.”
