Napoli shot stopper Alex Meret conceded it was too little too late when his side finally managed to find the back of the net in their Champions League tie defeat to Milan.
The Partenopei were eliminated 2-1 on aggregate by the Rossoneri yesterday evening after struggling to score throughout both legs. Their only goal came in the final moments of the second half in extra time through Victor Osimhen, still not enough to secure progression.
“It’s a shame we didn’t get an early goal. When we finally found the net, it was too late,” he told the club’s official website.
“We’re disappointed because we really dominated possession. We should have done better on Leao’s run to set up the goal. Perhaps we needed to commit the foul. However, in terms of the rest of the performance, we have few regrets.”
“We gave it a real go and this evening should not tarnish what has been a fantastic season. We’ll pick ourselves up and focus on the road to the title.”
