Juventus boss Max Allegri was critical of his side’s mental approach following their 4-2 away defeat this evening to Sassuolo.
The Bianconeri suffered their first defeat of the season after the hosts scored twice in the final ten minutes and secured an upset victory.
“We must learn from this defeat. As I have always said, we were not phenomena before this match and we have not become poor after this match,” Allegri told DAZN during his post-match interview.
“We were mentally weak and we need to improve on this, because today we lost important points. We weren’t able to take advantage of the situations we created at the start, then we conceded a goal at the first time of asking, and paid dearly for it.”
“I know the strengths and weaknesses of my players, and I knew that today would be tough. We must not get discouraged, we have an important match on Tuesday.”
He added, “Dusan Vlahovic? He had a couple of important situations and wasn’t able to exploit them, but overall on a team level we didn’t do well. Sassuolo is a team that tends to exploit the game and we found ourselves unprepared in these situations.”
