Atlanta United Makes $10m Bid for Atalanta Midfielder Aleksey Miranchuk

Atlanta United is making moves in the transfer market, with reports suggesting they have submitted a bid of approximately $10m for Atalanta and Russia international midfielder Aleksey Miranchuk. This potential acquisition comes on the heels of the club parting ways with star midfielder Thiago Almada, who has moved on to play in Brazil before joining Lyon in France.

The Five Stripes are undergoing a rebuild, having also transferred striker Giorgos Giakoumakis and teenage full-back Caleb Wiley to other clubs. With CEO Garth Lagerway searching for a new head coach following the departure of Gonzalo Pineda, Atlanta United is looking to strengthen their squad with the addition of Miranchuk.

Miranchuk, who had a productive season with Atalanta, scoring four goals and providing 12 assists in various competitions, is seen as a valuable asset for Atlanta United. The 28-year-old’s contract with Atalanta expires next summer, making him an attractive target for the MLS club.

With funds from recent player sales, Atlanta United has the resources to invest in new signings, potentially targeting a striker and bolstering their midfield. Miranchuk’s experience and quality on the field make him a promising candidate for the Five Stripes as they aim to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
