Davide Ballardini made his formal debut on the Cremonese bench this evening following his appointment last week.

With the team winless and sitting bottom of Serie A, the ex-Palermo and Genoa boss was selected to replace Massimiliano Alvini after last weekend’s defeat against Monza.

The team traveled away to face Bologna tonight where they settled for a 1-1 draw despite taking a lead early in the second half.

“Initially I liked our approached but then Bologna were more into the match after the break,” Ballardini told DAZN at full-time.

“We need to take better care of the ball and do better in our construction phase. We’re way too erratic and lose all sense of calm when the ball’s at our feet.”

He added, “We didn’t deserve a win tonight, a draw was a fair result. We need to take things one match at a time.”

“Now we have to improve our preparation. There’s an extraordinary environment in Cremona and the supporters have given us a boost. All the ingredients are in place for us to do well.”
