Bologna technical director Giovanni Sartori commented on the club’s summer transfer business during the unveiling of attacker Alexis Saelemaekers.
The Rossoblu were incredibly active during the window, welcoming eleven new additions to the team including €11 million signing Jesper Karlsson from AZ Alkmaar.
“We’re happy with the work we did, particularly in attack. We wanted at least two names per position–our preference would’ve been to have one more name but (Musa) Barrow has left,” said Sartori.
“Our intention going into the summer wasn’t to overhaul the team but when unforeseen things happen you need to adjust. As I said last year, the foundations of the team were really good, we just needed add and rejuvenate a few things.”
He continued, “Now it’s up to us to see how things go on the pitch. When I talked to Thiago (Motta) about our summer he really pleased.”
“Then we also reached an agreement on a contract renewal with (Riccardo) Orsolini—it was a long negotiation but there was never fear he was close to leaving.”
“We paused the discussions last season because we wanted to keep the focus on the pitch and end the season well.”
