The future of Bologna striker Marko Arnautovic is a major question mark.
Despite being the Rossoblu’s top goalscorer this season (8 goals in Serie A), the veteran’s role within the team has been significantly reduced following the arrival of manager Thiago Motta.
The Brazilian-Italian technician has preferred to utilise Musa Barrow as the team’s primary number nine and recently confessed he’ll continue to do so.
The problem for the club is they renewed Arnautovic’s contract just before Motta’s appointment. They handed him huge wages worth €3 million (net) per season and extended the deal until June 2025.
As a result, Tuttomercatoweb writes the player’s large salary could impede any transfer away from the club, potentially setting-up a long, drawn out divorce between the two sides.
