Paolo Zanetti Takes the Helm at Hellas Verona

Italian football club Hellas Verona has announced Paolo Zanetti as their new coach, following the departure of Marco Baroni to Lazio. The 41-year-old Zanetti, who hails from the Veneto region, is no stranger to the Italian football scene, having previously managed clubs like Empoli, Venezia, Ascoli, and Sudtirol.

Zanetti’s last stint at Empoli ended in September 2023 after a string of defeats in Serie A and the Coppa Italia. However, his successful promotion campaign with Venezia from Serie B showcases his managerial abilities, making him a promising prospect for Hellas Verona.

Despite almost completely overhauling the squad during the January transfer window, Baroni managed to steer Hellas Verona clear of relegation. His departure to Lazio, a Europa League competitor, paved the way for Zanetti to take charge of the Verona-based club.

Zanetti has signed a one-year contract with Hellas Verona, with an option to extend until June 2026. This homecoming for Zanetti, who grew up in the town of Valdagno near Vicenza, adds a sentimental touch to his new role as the head coach of Hellas Verona.

With Zanetti at the helm, Hellas Verona fans can expect an exciting season ahead as the club aims to build on their recent successes and climb up the Serie A standings. Zanetti’s experience and tactical acumen will be crucial in guiding the team to achieve their goals and make a mark in Italian football.
