Bundesliga clubs eyeing Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie

IF24 Desk

Fiorentina may face competition from Bundesliga clubs for the services of Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, who could potentially make a return to the German league this summer. The USMNT star is reportedly not in the plans of new coach Thiago Motta, and with his contract set to expire in June 2025, Juventus may look to sell him to avoid losing him for free at the end of the season.

McKennie was recently linked with a move to Aston Villa as part of a deal for Douglas Luiz, but he rejected the transfer, leading to the inclusion of Enzo Barrenechea instead. Despite Fiorentina being considered the frontrunners for his signature, they are reportedly hesitant about meeting the €10-15m asking price and are exploring ways to negotiate it down.

According to transfer expert Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Deutschland, several Bundesliga clubs are interested in McKennie and could potentially make an offer for him. The 25-year-old Texan, who spent his formative years in Germany, began his professional career with Schalke 04 before joining Juventus for €25m in 2020.
