Sport: Chiesa Agrees to Pay Cut for Barcelona, Juventus May Lower Price

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Federico Chiesa has reportedly reached an agreement with Barcelona on a reduced salary, as Juventus is willing to sell him for potentially less than €15m.

The Italian international has been sidelined by Juventus, as he is not in coach Thiago Motta’s plans and his contract is set to expire at the end of the current season. Chiesa has been instructed to find a new club and has been holding out for a Champions League team, showing little interest when Roma and Napoli approached him.

Chiesa and Juventus seem to see Barcelona as their best option. Diario Sport reports that Chiesa understands his limited options and is willing to forego his demand for a €7m per season salary. Instead, he is willing to accept a reduced salary of €4.5m, lower than his current €5m wages at Juventus, if Barcelona can offer him a three-year contract.

The next step is for Barcelona to negotiate a fee with Juventus. Juventus may incur a loss on the sale of Chiesa for anything less than €15m, but they are willing to accept this in order to offload him. The total cost for Barcelona, including fixed fees and bonuses, must not exceed €14m.

Agent Fali Ramadani has been in Spain discussing the terms and it appears that all parties involved are satisfied with the arrangement.
