Como 1907 have made a significant move by securing the services of Matthias Braunöder on a permanent deal. The Austrian U21 Captain originally joined the club on loan from Austria Vienna in January, and his impressive performances have convinced Como 1907 to exercise the option-to-buy clause.
Braunöder, a 21-year-old central midfielder, has been a key player for Como 1907 in the second half of the 23/24 season, helping the club secure promotion. In his 13 appearances for the team, he has contributed with one goal and one assist. His leadership qualities were also evident as he recently captained the Austrian U21 side.
The young midfielder has already received recognition for his talents, being named the best newcomer in the Bundesliga in 2022 and winning the Rising Star of the Year award for the State Athlete of the Year in 2023. His goal of the season in the 2022/23 campaign further showcased his abilities.
Expressing his delight at making the move permanent, Braunöder stated, “I’m very happy to continue to be part of this amazing club. I feel very honored to keep playing for Como. I think I’m in the right place to develop myself both athletically and personally. We showed last season that we can achieve a lot together, and I’m convinced that with hard work we can also achieve our goals in Serie A. I can’t wait to get back to work and play in front of our amazing fans.”
In addition to his on-field success, Braunöder has also been enjoying life in Como. He appreciates the diversity of the city, the blend of urban life and nature with the picturesque lake. He particularly enjoys strolling along the lake and indulging in Italian cuisine at the local restaurants. Playing in such a beautiful environment has been an incredible experience for him.
With Braunöder committing his future to Como 1907, the club can look forward to his continued contributions on and off the field. His talent and dedication will be key as the team aims to make an impact in Serie A. Fans can expect to see more exciting performances from the Austrian midfielder in the upcoming seasons.
