After 23 games, Cremonese finally earned their first league victory of the season this evening, stunning Roma by a scoreline of 2-1 in Lombardy.
For the second time this month, Davide Ballardini’s men defeated Jose Mourinho’s side after they knocked the capital club out of the Coppa Italia.
A late penalty secured the Grigiorossi their first three points of the season in Serie A, a decision that was one of several refereeing decisions that baffled the Special One.
“I’m very, very unhappy tonight,” Mourinho told reporters after the final whistle. “I think we caused many of our own problems tonight.”
“It’s fair to give credit to Cremonese, but I prefer to say that we didn’t do well, in the first half the intensity was low, there was little organization and there was nothing we’d planned.”
“As for the referee, I’m an emotional guy but I’m not some crazed madman: I want to highlight this in relation to my behavior on the touchline.”
He added, “Something happened which explains my reaction. I have to understand if I can do something from a legal point of view.”
“Piccinini gave me the red card, because unfortunately the fourth official doesn’t have the ability to say what he said to me. I want to understand if there is an audio recording of what happened.”
