Cristiano Giuntoli unveiled by Juventus as new sporting director

Juventus officially unveiled former Napoli executive Cristiano Giuntoli as their new sporting director, replacing Federico Cherubini.

The 51 year-old penned a five-year contract with the club after he officially departed the Partenopei exactly one week ago.

“It’s incredible and difficult to put into words,” Giuntoli told Juventus TV. “As a child, I’d travel from Prato and spend eight hours on a bus to watch Juventus.”

“So I’m sure you can imagine the immense pride I feel right now, it’s a great feeling. My father was a massive Juve supporter and he passed that on to me.”

“I’m grateful for that, though there’s always going to be a slight bit of sadness (because of his passing).”

He was also asked to describe himself and outline the work that needs to be done at the club, who finished seventh in the table this past season.

“I always say we must work harder than the others. However, only time will tell if we inevitably are working better than our competition, but certainly I will always work extremely hard.”

“We have to put the club before individuals. We all need to bring our heads together and work with the same level of passion.”
