Despite rumors, Italian trio not involved in betting scandal

IF24 Desk

Italian paparazzo Fabrizio Corona has continued to manufacture false accusations during an appearance on Mediaset television program “Striscia la notizia.”

The 49 year-old convicted criminal named three additional players caught up in the ongoing illegal betting investigation: Roma attacker Stephan El Shaarawy, Juventus defender Federico Gatti, and Lazio defender Nicolo Casale.

However, the Prosecutor of Torino has published an official statement denying the trio’s involvement, completely contradicting Corona’s proclamations.

“The office of the Prosecutor of Torino notes there’s no evidence regarding the involvement of Stephan El Shaarawy, Federico Gatti, nor Nicolo Casale,” they wrote bluntly.

Their denial comes just hours after it was revealed former Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali admitted to illegally placing bets on matches involving the Rossoneri.
