Inter striker Edin Dzeko was asked about next month’s showdown versus Napoli when Serie A resumes following the World Cup break.
The Bosnian confessed that even though the match is worth three points like all others, a win would give the Nerazzurri a big confidence boost.
“The match versus Napoli represents a chance for us to capture three points, just like every other fixture,” he told Sky Sport.
“It doesn’t change whether we’re facing Napoli or Empoli. However, a potential victory would give us a lot of confidence. They’re a strong team, I honestly didn’t expect them to win 13 of their first 15 games.”
He joked, “Obviously I hope they slow down.”
As for his future, the veteran isn’t ready to think about what he’ll do once he decides to hang up his playing boots.
“I feel good at Inter and I’m focused on training—I’ll let the others think about everything else. I’m not worried about what I’ll do once I retire, I’m honestly not even thinking about it.”
Concluding, “It’s also something I don’t even want to think about, I still feel I can give a lot to football.”
