Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli is nearing a return to the pitch after suffering a torn ACL injury in April.
After missing eight months of action, the Italian international was back in full training this week and he’s expected to be fully available following the winter break.
“I feel good, being able to train with the team felt like going back in time,” he told Viola TV.
“I felt like a kid the first time I touched the ball after the injury, I had chills—it was a great feeling. But now it’s up to me to get up to speed and be at the same level as my teammates.”
“Luckily the difficult period is over and in the past. I tried my best to use it as a positive and I want to thank the entire medical staff that stayed close to me, the same goes for the supporters.”
“It won’t be long before I’m back on the pitch and even though there’s a lot of competition, I want to recover my place in the team.”
The midfielder also weighed in on the Viola’s season thus far—they currently sit 10th in the table with a record of 5 win, 4 draws, and 6 defeats in Serie A.
“The team had a tough start but managed to turn things around and recover well. I want to applaud the manager and the players for having overcome the difficulties they encountered.”
“The quality of the team finally showed itself. As long as we stick together we’ll be able to overcome any hurdles we encounter in the future.”
