Further details have emerged regarding the enormous interest throughout Europe for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
The Moroccan international’s brother, Nordin Amrabat, was interviewed by ESPN and revealed Chelsea and Manchester United joined Barcelona in trying to sign the player in January.
However, La Viola ultimately rebuffed all approaches, preferring to keep hold of Amrabat at least until June.
“Manchester United wanted to bring him on loan with an option to buy but Fiorentina wouldn’t agree to that formula,” he stated.
“Barcelona also came forward but due to their financial problems they couldn’t include an option to buy into the deal. The third team that tried to sign him was Chelsea.”
“Though, Barcelona offered a very expensive loan fee but that still wasn’t enough for Fiorentina, they rejected it, stating they want to win the Conference League and Coppa Italia.”
