Josip Brekalo met with the media for the first time today following his transfer to Fiorentina from Wolfsburg.
The Tuscans secured a deal for the ex-Torino man in the final days of last month’s transfer window ahead of his contract expiration with the German side.
“Fiorentina is a great club that has strong players and a manager whose philosophy I like,” began the Croatian.
“Between the national team and Dinamo, I’ve constantly been playing in a 4-3-3 so I believe I can help this team in the three competitions we’re in.”
“Why did I choose to leave Torino? It wasn’t an easy decision but a manager that I was familiar with had arrived at Wolfsburg in Niko Kovac. I had one year remaining on my deal and I expected to be called-up for the World Cup but it didn’t happen.”
“After a few months, I realised my situation at the club wasn’t good so my desire was to come back to Italy. Following Torino, the best step to take was Fiorentina.”
“Coming here was always my first choice so I’m very happy to be here.”
