Monza CEO Adriano Galliani is turning to a familiar face for the team’s next head coach following Raffaele Palladino’s departure for Fiorentina.
According to calciomercato.it, Galliani is expected to select former Milan defender Alessandro Nesta as the club’s new first team manager following yesterday’s positive meeting between the pair.
Nesta, the current manager of Serie B side Reggiana, emerged as the favorite after Verona manager Marco Baroni was reluctant to accept the job while Igor Tudor rejected the club’s advances.
As a result, the two sides are nearing an agreement with only a few details still outstanding. Nesta is expected to sign a one-year contract until June 2025, with an option for automatic renewal based on Monza’s survival in the league.
