Atalanta has successfully secured a deal with Galatasaray for the transfer of Nicolò Zaniolo, despite a last-minute attempt by Fiorentina to swoop in. The agreement involves a loan with an option to buy for a total of €22 million, which could potentially turn into an obligation.

The negotiations between Atalanta and Galatasaray have been ongoing for over a week, with both clubs offering similar packages to the Turkish team and the player. However, multiple sources, including Sky Sport Italia, Fabrizio Romano, and Calciomercato.com, have confirmed that the deal has been finalized in favor of Atalanta.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Zaniolo will join Atalanta on loan for €3.5 million with an option to buy for an additional €16 million, along with up to €2.5 million in bonuses. The transfer will become an obligation if Zaniolo plays in 60-65% of Atalanta’s games throughout the season.

There are even talks of a medical examination taking place as early as Thursday, indicating the swift progress of the transfer. Zaniolo, who recently celebrated his 25th birthday, will be making a return to Serie A after a loan spell with Aston Villa.

This move back to Serie A comes as a birthday gift for Zaniolo, who has been eager to return to Italian football. With the deal now finalized, Atalanta looks forward to welcoming the talented Italy international to their squad.
