Genoa boss Alberto Gilardino pens new deal

Alberto Gilardino will be given the chance to build on the work he did in his first season as Genoa manager when he led the team to promotion back into Serie A.

Il Grifone announced Gilardino will be back on the bench for the upcoming season when he’ll make his managerial debut in Serie A. The former striker penned a new contract that will keep him at the club until June 2025.

Despite their promotion back into Italy’s top flight, many speculated Genoa could look to appoint a new manager with more experience. But this news has been put to bed after Gilardino sent a message to the club’s supporters that he “can’t wait to get started again
