Genoa have opened transfer talks with striker Krzysztof Piatek, keen to reunite with the 27 year-old after his short yet successful stint with the club from June 2018 until January 2019.

The Polish international returned to parent club Hertha Berlin after Salernitana declined this month to exercise the option to make his loan move permanent.

Genoa’s ownership group, 777 Partners, opened negotiations with Piatek’s representatives in recent days to understand if an agreement could be reached surrounding personal terms.

La Gazzetta dello Sport wrote Piatek expressed willingness to lower his wages because his preference is to return to Liguria. The sides hope to reach an agreement in the coming days.

There’s no issue between the clubs as Hertha are just another of the seven football clubs owned by the Miami-based 777 Partners.
