Gunners on the Hunt: Arsenal Eyeing Riccardo Calafiori

Arsenal is keeping a close eye on Italy international Riccardo Calafiori as they weigh up the possibility of entering the race for the 22 year-old’s signature.

According to English tabloid The Telegraph, Arsenal’s recruitment team has been impressed by Calafiori’s performances, particularly during the recent European Championship.

The Bologna defender, who made 33 appearances for his club last season and earned his first call-up to the Italian national team earlier this year, has attracted interest from several top clubs, with Juventus being one of the front-runners.

Although Bologna’s technical director, Giovanni Sartori, has expressed a desire to keep Calafiori at the club, he acknowledged that they would consider serious offers from other teams. Sartori mentioned that while there is talk of Juventus, they are open to evaluating all options.

If Arsenal were to pursue Calafiori, it could potentially impact the future of Poland centre-back Jakub Kiwior at the club. Kiwior, who has been linked with a move back to Italy in recent months, may face further uncertainty regarding his position at Arsenal.

As the transfer window heats up, Arsenal’s interest in Calafiori adds another layer of intrigue to the ongoing speculation surrounding player movements in the football world. The potential acquisition of the talented young defender could significantly bolster Arsenal’s defensive options for the upcoming season.
