Hellas Verona manager Salvatore Bocchetti was in high spirits despite his side’s 2-1 home defeat to Milan.

Making his coaching debut after being named the replacement of Gabriele Cioffi, the former central defender expressed the confidence he has in the team moving forward.

“I’m confident, the lads gave everything tonight. This is the right path forward,” he confessed to DAZN.

“There’s a bitter taste in our mouth for having lost so late but the team gave heart and soul which is why the crowd applauded at full time.”

Adding, “I think we deserved more. If we want to avoid relegation we must take things one game at a time. But if we show the same attitude we did tonight we won’t lose many games.”

“We knew tonight wouldn’t be easy against the defending Scudetto winners but we did well. I was excited to play in front of these fans.”
