Inter close deal for Monza fullback Carlos Augusto, Samardzic deal stalls

One week before their season kicks-off, Inter are working to finalise two transfer deals.

Following a week of negotiations, the Nerazzurri met with Monza executive Adriano Galliani to complete the acquisition of wingback Carlo Augusto.

“We finalised the agreement for Carlos Augusto,” Galliani told SportItalia. “He deserves it. Several clubs wanted him but he wanted to play in the Champions League with Inter.”

Meanwhile, the club are still working to find an agreement with Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic. The Serbian traveled to Milano three days ago to undergo his medicals and complete his switch to Inter.

However, the player’s entourage, led by his father, requested a last-minute increase of his wages but was ultimately rebuffed.

Inter informed Samardzic’s representatives they can return to Udine as they have no intention of increasing the terms from the original agreement. Though, Sky Sport reports the midfielder has stayed put in Milano and is eager for the deal to go through.

Consequently, a glimmer of hope remains for the transfer particularly if the midfielder urges his entourage to honor the original agreement.
