One day after scoring a brace in a victory over Fiorentina, Inter attacker Lautaro Martinez reflected on his time with the club.

Since he originally joined the club in 2018 from Racing Club, the Argentinean has collected 105 goals and 36 assists in 240 total appearances.

“Since day one I’ve felt everyone’s affection,” he told Sky Sport. “This important for a player when they’re coming from South America. I try to thank them (the supporters) on the pitch.”

The 26 year-old has started the season in spectacular form, scoring 5 goals in three matches.

“As I said at the beginning of the season, last year we did an excellent job in reaching the Champions League final. So it’s natural that expectations for us are high.”

He continued, “We returned to Appiano with this mentality, which we were able to pass on to the new players. We wanted to start strong right away. Overall, I’m happy.”

He also weighed-in on new attacking partner and summer signing Marcus Thuram. The Frenchman has also started the season well with 1 goal and 2 assists.

“I’m happy for him, he’s been working really hard ever since he arrived,” he stated.

“Just like the other new signings, they’re working on integrating themselves with the language and with understanding what the manager wants from them.”
