Inter Milan started their Serie A title defense with a disappointing result as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Genoa, who scored a stoppage-time equalizer at Stadio Luigi Ferraris. This result was far from ideal for Simone Inzaghi’s team, as they joined Juventus in making a negative Serie A record.
According to Opta, Inter and Juventus are the only defending champions to have a winless start to their title defense. The only exception in the past 13 seasons was Juventus’ 0-1 home loss to Udinese in 2015/16.
