Inter vice president Javier Zanetti commented on the Nerazzurri’s upcoming Champions League tie against Benfica, admitting the team will be to be at the top of their game in order to progress.
Simone Inzaghi’s side drew the Portuguese giants in the quarterfinals after they eliminated rivals Porto by a 1-0 aggregate scoreline.
“Benfica are a difficult opponent, obviously they have to be respected,” Zanetti told Madero Sports.
“However, we’ve got all weapons necessary to play well over the two legs. The Champions League is a competition defined by details. I’m confident Inter can prepare well and advance.”
He continued, “It’s been a bit of a complicated season for us with the first reason being due to Napoli’s extraordinary campaign. They’ve made so few mistakes.”
“Though, we still managed to win a trophy in the Supercoppa and advanced into the Coppa Italia semi finals. That’s on top of progressing to the Champions League quarterfinals.”
