Juan Cabal, the new signing for Juventus, carefully navigated questions about his past connections with Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri had been on the lookout for a left-footed defender after Tajon Buchanan’s injury led to Carlos Augusto’s return to the left wing. During the summer, there were reports suggesting that Inter had secured Cabal’s signature. The 23-year-old, who impressed at Hellas Verona last season, can play as a center-back or left-back. However, Juventus swooped in and secured his services.
In a press conference, Cabal expressed his delight at joining Juventus, calling it a dream come true for himself and his family. When asked about Inter Milan’s interest, he diplomatically praised both teams but emphasized that his dream was always to play for Juventus. He stated, “Joining Juventus was a decision based on a dream for myself and my family. I don’t want to talk about Inter because I know that they are also a great team. But my dream was Juve, I want to fight for this shirt.”
Cabal also mentioned that he sought advice from his compatriot Juan Cuadrado, who encouraged him to choose Juventus. Cuadrado, who spent eight years at Juventus before moving to Inter last summer, praised Cabal’s decision, saying, “Juan told me that I had made the right decision because there’s no other club like Juve.”
Cuadrado’s time at Inter was marred by an Achilles tendon injury, limiting his impact on the team. The 35-year-old left Inter at the end of the season after his contract expired.
