Juventus and Manchester United are reportedly eyeing Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen for a potential January transfer. Despite Barcelona’s reluctance to make moves in the upcoming transfer window, it appears that departures are more likely than new additions. Along with Eric Garcia, Ansu Fati, and Pablo Torre, Christensen has emerged as a potential candidate for a transfer.
Christensen has been sidelined since the beginning of the season due to an Achilles’ tendon injury, but is expected to make a comeback in January after a five-month absence. According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, both Manchester United and Juventus are interested in securing a loan deal for Christensen in January, with Juventus showing particular interest. The Bianconeri are currently facing defensive issues with long-term absences of defenders Bremer and Juan Cabal, prompting them to seek reinforcements.
Despite the potential departure of Christensen, Barcelona still has defensive options in Garcia, Inigo Martinez, Pau Cubarsi, and Ronald Araujo for the remainder of the season. Reports suggest that Barcelona is looking to offload Christensen in the summer, but the Danish defender has expressed his desire to stay. With the possibility of Hansi Flick utilizing either Garcia or Christensen in midfield in the second half of the season, Barcelona may be hesitant to let him go in January.
