Thiago Motta indirectly confirms Juventus stance on Chiesa as Barcelona talks continue

Federico Chiesa is currently in discussions with Barcelona, and Juventus coach Thiago Motta has indirectly indicated that the Italian star is not in his plans. This was evident as he did not include Chiesa among the unavailable players for the recent Hellas Verona game.

It is widely known that Chiesa does not have a future at Juventus under Motta’s leadership, as the coach has not included the former Fiorentina player in his plans. Chiesa has been training separately from the rest of the team since the beginning of pre-season, and Juventus is actively seeking to sell him.

Chiesa’s agent, Fali Ramadani, is in negotiations with Barcelona, and according to a report from Sky Sport, the Catalan club is optimistic about reaching an agreement with Juventus. The asking price for the winger is around €15 million, as his contract with Juventus expires in June 2025.

During a recent press conference, Motta indirectly confirmed his stance on Chiesa by not mentioning him when listing the unavailable players for the upcoming game against Hellas Verona. He specifically named Khephren Thuram, Tim Weah, Vasilije Adzic, and Arek Milik as unavailable, and when prompted if he had forgotten anyone, he confirmed that he had not.

Motta also mentioned that Danilo’s availability for the game would be assessed later, and emphasized that decisions on the starting lineup would be made after one more training session. Chiesa continues to train separately from the main team, alongside other players who are not part of Motta’s plans, including Filip Kostic and Arthur, who are targets for Fiorentina, and Mattia De Sciglio, who is in talks with Empoli.
