Juventus Player Updates Fans on Uncertain Future in Turin

Weston McKennie has provided an important update on his uncertain future at Juventus following a strong start under new manager Thiago Motta. In a recent interview with Corriere dello Sport, McKennie confirmed his desire to remain at the Allianz Stadium for as long as possible.

“I am happy at Juventus, I enjoy living in Turin, I have been here for four years and I want to stay as long as possible, but it also depends on the club,” the USMNT midfielder stated. “I don’t even know if we have started discussing a contract extension.”

McKennie recently extended his contract with Juventus until 2026 in August. Despite this, he was the subject of intense transfer rumors over the summer, attracting interest from various foreign clubs, including some from Major League Soccer.

Toronto FC and FC Cincinnati were reportedly interested in bringing the 26-year-old back to the United States. However, talks with Juventus did not progress, leading to McKennie staying in Turin against expectations.

Motta has shown faith in the versatile midfielder this season, a decision that has paid off. McKennie has featured in ten Serie A matches, scoring a goal and providing two assists. His adaptability has been crucial for the new Juventus manager during a period of significant injury setbacks.

As Juventus looks to secure a deal for unsettled Newcastle United player Sandro Tonali, McKennie’s future is once again uncertain. Tonali is reportedly keen on returning to Serie A after a short spell in England, with Juventus emerging as potential suitors to offer him an escape from St James’ Park.
