Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli will miss the remainder of the season as he reached a plea agreement with Italy’s Procura Federale after admitting his role in wide-ranging illegal betting scandal.
The youngster accepted a seven months long playing ban in addition to five months of rehabilitation. He’ll also be fined €12,500 for violating Article 24 of the sporting justice code, which prohibits players from placing bets on officially sanctioned events organized by the Italian FA (FIGC), UEFA, or FIFA.
Although he won’t feature again this season, Fagioli avoided a significantly longer spell on the sidelines. The sporting code allows for bans up to three years if a player found guilty of violating Article 24.
