Juventus squad for German pre-season camp: surprises and absences explained

IF24 Desk

Juventus has revealed the roster for their pre-season training camp in Germany, surprising fans by excluding players like Federico Chiesa, Wojciech Szczesny, Weston McKennie, and Dean Huijsen, while including Matias Soulé. The team, led by new coach Thiago Motta, is heading to Herzogenaurach, where they will be staying at the same facility used by Germany during the EURO 2024 tournament near Nuremberg.

Several players are missing from the squad for various reasons. Chiesa, who is up for transfer, is also getting married and will join the team in Turin next week. Injuries have sidelined Daniele Rugani, Filip Kostic, Mattia De Sciglio, and Arthur Melo, while Szczesny and McKennie have extended breaks after international tournaments. Danilo, Gleison Bremer, and Douglas Luiz are still on vacation after representing Brazil.

A major surprise is the absence of Huijsen, who is a target for several clubs in a transfer battle. Another unexpected inclusion is Soulé, who is reportedly close to a move to Roma for around €30m.

The announcement was made with a tweet showing the selected players for the training camp in Germany.
