Juventus held to a draw by late Lecce equalizer
Juventus returned from their match against Lecce with a single point, a disappointing outcome as they conceded the equalizing goal in added time at the end of the second half. Despite this setback, some may argue that the draw was a fair result given the overall context of the game.
The Bianconeri started the match strongly, with Kenan Yildiz creating the first significant opportunity in the 5th minute. Khephren Thuram missed a clear chance to score after Yildiz’s perfect delivery, hitting the post with an open goal in front of him. Francisco Conceicao also hit the post in the 15th minute, and Timothy Weah had a goal disallowed for offside in the 24th minute.
Throughout the first half, Juventus dominated possession and created several scoring opportunities, but failed to find the back of the net.
The second half saw Lecce taking the initiative, with Nikola Krstovic and Tete Morente testing Juventus goalkeeper Mattia Perin. However, Juventus managed to take the lead in the 68th minute through a deflected shot from Andrea Cambiaso. Despite coming close to doubling their advantage, Juventus were unable to hold on as Ante Rebic scored a late equalizer for Lecce in stoppage time.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw, leaving Juventus with a bitter taste as they head back to Turin. The key moments of the game were Cambiaso’s goal for Juventus and Rebic’s equalizer for Lecce.
The next match for Juventus is against Bologna on Saturday, 7 December 2024, at the Allianz Stadium.
