Lazio suffered a big setback this evening in the Italian capital, losing 3-1 at home to Salernitana.

The visitors scored three second-half goals within the space of half an hour to stun Maurizio Sarri’s men ahead of their Derby della Capitale showdown next Sunday against Roma.

To make matters worse, star midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic will be suspended for next weekend’s Derby after he received a questionable booking after coming on as a substitue.

Prior to tonight the Serbian was one booking away from an automatic one-match suspension and began the game on the bench.

However, Sarri introduced him in the second half, ten minutes after former Lazio wide-man Antonio Candreva leveled the score for Salernitana.

Just minutes after Milinkovic-Savic entered, Lazio found themselves down thanks to ex-Roma defender Federico Fazio.

The towering veteran smashed a perfectly placed curling shot into the bottom corner of Ivan Provedel’s goal, giving the visitors a 2-1 lead.

Three minutes later, Milinkovic-Savic was adjudged to have stomped on the foot of Salernitana’s Dylann Bronn and was shown a yellow card—officially ruling him out for next Sunday’s Derby.

The visitors added to Lazio’s misery when substitute Boulaye Dia made it 3-1 in the 75th minute, Davide Nicola’s men cruising to an important victory and shocking the hosts.
